Sri Lanka replaces net metering with feed-in tariffs for rooftop solar

Sri Lanka has discontinued net metering for new rooftop solar systems, requiring new installations to operate under its Net Plus feed-in tariff scheme with agreements capped at 12 years. The change comes as the country’s rooftop PV capacity reached 1.94 GW at the end of 2025, following rapid growth in installations and generation.
