South Korea tenders 6.6 GWh of six-hour storage under 15-year contracts

The Korea Power Exchange has launched its 2026 ESS tender for 1.18 GW of six-hour storage, targeting 1.1 GW on mainland Korea and 80 MW on Jeju, with projects due by February 2029. Bids will be assessed 50% on price and 50% on non-price factors, including fire safety, grid-forming capability, supply-chain resilience, Korean economic contribution, maintenance, recycling, and project experience.
