Can the EU save consumers €12bn on appliance repairs?

Fewer than one in five broken household appliances is repaired in major EU economies, as high costs and hassle push consumers to buy new instead. Repairs still cost European households around €12 billion a year. Can the EU make fixing things easier and cheaper?
